Out-of-state students

Coming from out of state?

Every class is taught in person in Modesto, California, and there is no online course. Students fly in from other states to train here, and this page is how to plan the trip.

Getting here

Fly into Sacramento, San Jose or Fresno, then drive about an hour and a half to Modesto.

Modesto's own airport has had no airline service since 2014, so plan on a rental car for the week.

Where to stay

We hold a discounted student rate at the DoubleTree Modesto for the length of your course. Ask us for the booking link and the rate code once your date is confirmed.

Your week

  1. SundayFly in, pick up your car and check in.
  2. Monday to WednesdayClass at the shop, on real vehicles. Lunch is on us every class day.
  3. ThursdayThe final hands-on evaluation. Pass it and you earn California Tint Academy's certificate of completion. Fly home that evening or Friday.

What it costs all-in

Tuition is the one fixed price. The rest depends on where you fly from and how you book.

    A round trip into Sacramento, San Jose or Fresno. It depends on where you fly from.

A $500 deposit holds your seat in any course. The remaining balance is due in full on Day One at check-in.

Back home

  • The certificate of completion is California Tint Academy's own certificate. It shows you finished the course and passed the final hands-on evaluation. It is not a state license.

    About the certificate of completion

  • Tint laws are different in every state: how dark each window can be, reflectivity, colors and stickers. Check your state's DMV or state police rules before you tint a customer's car.

  • Before you open for business, check your state's and your city's rules for tint installers and for new businesses.
